Chris Kaspar: A Teacher's Perspective

Our July/August exhibition features Kent State graduate and Brooklyn school teacher Chris Kaspar, who brings a new body of work to the gallery in the form of scanned and manipulated photographic images. The images are a teacher's interpretation of students thoughts on their relationship and interactions in the school environment. He uses 35 mm black and white negatives that were manipulated with inks and bleach. The negatives were then scanned where text was added. Then finally digitally printed and further manipulated by painting directly onto the print. The sometimes ironic and even bleak messages are conveyed with bold imagery and color. A Teacher's Perspective will open the July Tremont Artwalk with a reception from 6 to 9PM on July 11, and a second reception will be held during the August Artwalk on August 8, 2014.
