Scholastic Regional Art Exhibit
I recently had the honor and privilege of acting as a juror in the annual Scholastic Art Exhibit hosted by The Cleveland Institute of Art. The quality and variety of work submitted by area middle and high school students was truly impressive. We were sadly limited only by space in picking those pieces which made it into the exhibition. The work which I helped select in photography represented an impressive range of creativity, some of which could have been mistaken for college level work or above. I can't wait to see the final results hung on the walls of the gallery. The Cleveland Institute of Art hosts the 29th Annual Cuyahoga County Regional Scholastic Awards Exhibition in the Reinberger Galleries. The show will open with a reception on January 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. that is free and open to the public. The exhibit recognizes creative achievement in Northeast Ohio students from grades 7-12. A panel of local professional artists and art educators jury the exhibit and select the winners from over 1,000 entries. Students who receive Portfolio Awards and Gold Key Awards will continue on to the national competition held in the spring in New York City.
The Institute's Reinberger Galleries are located at 11141 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH, and hours for this exhibit are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
