The Alleman Brother: Garage Art of the Philistines
Combining stencil, paint, and even collaboration with other artists, Eric Alleman creates vibrant paintings filled with repeating motifs. Eric is a story teller and a name dropper, referencing anyone and everyone, mimicking voices and parodying styles. He's a poet and a liar and a joker.
"I started out lying as a youth. I'd tell crazy stories about bums that gave ME money, eating berries that allowed me to see aliens, stuff like that. I kept getting in trouble for lying, so I started writing the stories down. Now it's fiction, so it's cool. Then poetry, because I was in my late teens and early twenties. That's when you poetry. Then theater, because it was the next thing in line. Then I realized I don't like working with other people so I started making stuff by myself. This is some of that stuff. I'm the Alleman Brother. " ~Eric Alleman
Eric's new exhibition, Garage Art of the Philistines, will be on view at Mastroianni Photography and Arts during October and November, 2014. Public reception on Friday, October 10, and November 14 from 6-9PM, both in conjunction with the Tremont Artwalk, or by appointment.
